WSI

Well... I am currently working on being a step closer to Camp A! This week I am taking WSI classes in LeMars! It is an hour drive for me to get there and then we have class from 8-5 and this is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday; thank goodness the instructor has been letting us go at 3 and 3:30 so far or I would be completely dead!

This class is to learn how to teach swim lessons, the first half we sit in a room and learn from books, pamphlets, and dvd then the second have we get in the pool and swim different strokes and teach pretend lessons!

So far it has been going by very fast and I have been learning a lot and keeping up with the material although I must add for anyone who may have to take WSI, or who has take a WSI class it is dreadfully boring!!

Well until next time keep safe!

TO DO:

While I am at Okinawa, Japan I want to experience many things and do everything there is to do on this beautiful island.

So here is my first to do hike to the top of Hiji falls which is approximately a 3 km hike near Okuma on the northwest side of Okinawa. It is said to be 30 ft tall at the top!

If any of you know of any great experiences to do or have even been to some please leave me some ideas for my to do list!

Starting Out

Hello!
I am just starting out my adventure with this great experience! I have gone through interviews, many long days of sitting at my desk filling out paperwork, and excitement waiting to find out where I will be placed!

I finally found out and it will be Okinawa, Japan and I am very excited!! I will be living on the Camp Foster base (B on above map) and will be an aquatics counselor at Camp McTureous (L on above map)!

For those of you who do not know what Camp Adventure is I will do my best at explaining it! It is an internship program through UNI where you can travel the world and be placed on an American base. You will put on a camp for the children that live on the base with their parents through a CDC program (which is younger children), a youth day program, or helping out in the aquatics program! I was selected as said before for the aquatics program and can not wait to be a lifeguard and a swim lesson's instructor for the children!

Some of the things that I have done so far is getting my shots to go over seas, ordering my passport, setting up all the extra classes that I will have to take to become an instructor and many more that are slipping through my mind!

Well that's all I have for now I will post more as I go through this learning experience and I will post some pictures that I have found of the bases and Okinawa!

Until next time,
RKB!
