Okuma

As a group Camp Adventure took a trip up to Okuma! It was by far the most beautiful location so far! It was the first time that I actually swam in the ocean instead of just standing in it and let me tell you it is sallllty! While we were there I also went on a Banana boat and went kayaking! It was so cool to go out and explore the ocean.

It was so nice to be able to get out and get some sun and just hang out with our friends! It was a  two hour drive up north but it was so worth the trip:)

We have officially moved into our new base and let me tell you it is amazing. I have a full bathroom, a full refrigerator, a full bed, a couch, a chair, and a ton of extra room... needless to say it is amazing!

We started swimming lesson today and although it was very overwhelming I had a great time and already love working with the kids! I am so glad that I am finally getting to interact with the kids instead of the orientation because it is what I came here for!  I am tired after a long day in the sun but am excited to go out again tomorrow!

But happy fathers day to all you dads our there
I miss you all!
Love you
Robyn

June 16, 2010

Hello Everyone!
We are still currently in orientation right now so not a lot of exciting news! We have started swimming our 500 which is 20 downs for those of you that don't know so I am getting my exercise in :)
The other day we went to the a beach named Tropical Beach, it wasn't as nice as the other beaches that we have been to which were Araha and Sunset. It had an area where we could go and explore though and look at different sea life when the tide was low, we saw different things like sea cucumbers and some sea anemone!
The girl that I went searching for these little critters for is Jenna! She is becoming one of my really good friends, we do pretty much everything together. The thing that sucks is that when I move to Kinser she will stay at Foster, but we will meet up at the weekend! Below is a picture we took with the ocean behind us:)

We were also able to go out into the town and visit some of there bars and clubs. It wasn't very busy when we went because they were one weekend away from payday, so everyone was broke!  So were going to try that same area again next weekend I think.
Here is a picture of the girls that I went out with!
On Saturday we have a lot of big plans were going to head north with our entire group. There is going to be a beach that we can go to and also different water activities that we can participate in so I am really excited for that!
Other than that I have had a pretty boring week, so hopefully next time I have more to post about! Miss you all!
Love,
Robyn

   My first Ocean view ever!

Today we have started to work, and let me tell you I would rather be outside in this beautiful weather! We have been working on our swimming lesson plans but mainly just messing around with everyone and having fun, so obviously not getting much done. Right now I am living on a different base for two weeks and then I will move to my official base where I will teach swimming lessons. I am both excited and sad to move because my new base is going to be very nice but I will leave a lot of good friends at the other. We will be able to meet up on the weekends still. We have been having a great time and making a lot of laughs! The pictures are of the American Village where we had a great time walking around and looking at the beautiful view!

Finally Here!

Well, after my long months of waiting I am finally here! It was a 20 hour flight over and it was so worth it! I love it here the people on and off base have been very nice. So far we have had to take an orientations to teach us some of Japanese Customs.

I have made a lot of friends and yesterday we got to make it down to a place called American Village. It is a place with a lot of different places to eat and shop and was a lot of fun! There was also a beach there so I got to step into the ocean for my first time!! I will post pictures soon as possible for that day. This is a short post becuase I don't have long right now but I will post a few pictures of my flight over.

The pictures are of us flying over the rockies, the first view of Japan, and a group of Iowa State students before we were leaving Cedar Rapids!

I will update soon!
Miss you all,
Robyn
